Guidelines for use of the internet in the library
- Access is free.
- You must be a library member to make an Internet
booking.
- The computer is not able to play audio.
- Brief introductory sessions are available
by appointment with Library ; however staff members are generally not available for
extensive help, particularly during busy periods.

The library provides a number of classes
in relation to the use of the Internet. To register for more extensive user
education sessions please inquire at the Information Desk.
- Material displayed on the screen must be
appropriate to a public library environment.
- Internet access allows general browsing,
accessing specific URLs, information searching and printing.
- In accordance with Bylaw No. 3, the Internet
may not be used for commercial or profit gaining purposes, including gambling,
in a Council facility.
- Internet users are responsible and liable
for the operation of the Internet during their use, including the accessing,
transmitting, displaying and printing of material.
Liability
- No liability or responsibility is accepted
by the Library for the accessing, transmitting, displaying and printing of
material from the Internet.Internet users are responsible for abiding
with all copyright, censorship and other relevant laws and legislation, when
accessing and or printing material from the Internet.
Bookings
- Internet terminals are available during normal opening hours
of the Monash Public Library Service.
- Bookings may be made by phone to a branch or online
or at the Information Desk. Bookings are for a maximum of one hour per day per person.
- Bookings may be made up to a week in advance.
- The person making the booking may nominate one person to share
access to the terminal during a session, but all responsibility and liability
resides with the person making the booking.
- Bookings will be forfeited 10 minutes past the booking time.
- A maximum of two people per terminal allowed during one session.
Printing
Parental
Supervision
- Persons under the age of 18 are required
to be accompanied by a parent/guardian when registering for access to the
Internet with Monash Public Library Service.
- The parent/guardian accepts liability and
responsibility for allowing their child further access to the Internet facilities
at Monash Public Library Service.
Electronic mail

Monash Public Library Service is not an E-mail
service provider, however users have access to E-mail
through external providers.

Internet users must not transmit any material
of an offensive or derogatory manner.

Note that electronic mail is not guaranteed
to be private.An e-mail address is sometimes required to
enter chat rooms
Any
user identified as breaching the above guidelines will be denied access
the Internet.
