Monash Public Library Service

The Library has an in-library subscription to Ancestry.com accessible in the Library from the link on our Online Resources page.
The Monash Public Library Service has collections of local history material at Monash Federation Centre (see below) and at the Mount Waverley Library.
The Mount Waverley Library holds material relating to the history of the Waverley area. This material is available in Mount Waverley Library opening hours. Information and photographs dating back to settlement are available to be viewed and, in most cases, photocopied.

To arrange to view resources in the rooms of the Waverley Historical Society (held upstairs at the same Library) contact the Society at their address below. The resources held in the collections reflect the history of the City and include:

Monash Federation Centre

The Monash Federation Centre is a focus for the local history collections of the Monash Public Library Service, and the Oakleigh and District Historical Society.

Monash Public Library' Service's collection is on open access, but to view the Society's collection, please make an appointment by phoning (03) 9563 2823. The Centre is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm; and by appointment only on Monday.

Oakleigh and District Historical Society Inc

The Society's collection is located at the Monash Federation Centre. The Centre is at 3 Atherton Road (next to the Rates Office in the park area), Oakleigh 3166

The Centre is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm; Monday by appointment only.

Oakleigh Pioneer Memorial Park Advisory Committee

The Park includes the former Oakleigh General Cemetery which contains graves of Oakleigh pioneers and a memorial structure with a brick paving stone which lists full details of those buried there.

Waverley Historical Society Inc

The Society room is open every Wednesday from mid-January to mid-December from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Mount Waverley Library, (Upstairs)
The Society has an online database of Mount Waverley Street Names on their web site.
