We rented a beach house over the holidays. I hadn’t been on a holiday with my extended family since I was little.
This was the first time we went to the beach all together. When our feet hit the sand everyone scattered into groups. Some sat down and looked out at the ocean. Others wandered up the beach, following the trails of other people’s footprints and creating their own.
I took this photo because in that moment I felt connected to all of them, even though they were far away and going in their own directions.
I was comforted knowing that we would all wander back to the others eventually, and contemplate what to do next as a group.
I’m quite scared of growing up, but from this photo I feel that no matter what direction I go in life, I can always go back to my family and friends.
