Council believes you have an important voice.

That's why we believe in, and support, the Monash Youth Committee.

Monash Youth Committee - Terms of Reference(PDF, 313KB)

The committee is a place to meet with other young people interested in the world around them, to discuss ideas and promote positive initiatives. It's also a chance to experience acting as a media officer, photographer, treasurer or chairperson - all skills that look great on a resume.

Responsibilities

  • To provide a forum for young people to provide input and consultation to Council processes, policies and strategies
  • To identify and promote issues of importance to young people in the City of Monash
  • To create opportunities for young people to meaningfully participate in civic life

Membership

At its 13 December 2022 meeting, Council:

Noted the resignation of the following representatives and thanks them for their valuable contribution: Mr Jacob Biviano, Ms Jazzy Howlett, Ms Stacey Rindel, Mr Justin Leung, Ms Misha Kasinathan, Ms Evonne Lu, Mr Siddhant Tandon and Ms Maria Saribalas as members from the Monash Youth Committee

Endorsed the appointment of Ms Bella Young, Ms Eva Mohan, Ms Khai Chan, Ms Lavanya Sharma, Mr Kasiban Sutharsan, Mr Ari Stidistsoulakos, Ms Serene Karunaratne and Mr Heerag Khan to the Monash Youth Committee.

Background

At its 27 January 2021 meeting, Council:

  • Noted the resignation of Ms Vrinda Mahesh, Mr Karthik Muralim, Ms Tatyana Wilson, Ms Anna Zhang, Ms Shriya Gupta, Mr Ani Prakash, Ms Veronica Levey, Mr Darren Chee and Ms Laura Wang as members from the Monash Youth Committee.
  • Endorsed the appointment of Mr Jonathan Lee, Mr Jacob Biviano, Mr Raghav Baheti, Mr Vibhu Desilva and Mr Alan Wang to the Monash Youth Committee.

At its 25 February 2020 meeting, Council:

  • Endorsed the suggested changes to the MYPRG Terms of Reference for 2020, which included a change in name of the Monash Young Persons Reference Group to the Monash Youth Committee.
  • Noted the resignation of Mr Kevin Tse, Ms Rosie Chau, Ms N Evans, Ms Natalia Kelly-Gerreyn, Mr Bowen Lai, Mr Devendra Singh, Ms Cheryl Ou, and Mr Tim Ziguras as members from the Monash Young Persons Reference Group and acknowledged their contributions to the City of Monash.
  • Endorsed the appointment of Ms Shreeya Kalagotla, Ms Vrinda Mahesh, Ms Karthik Murali, Ms Tatyana Wilson, Ms Jazzy Maddie, Mr Wesley Chen and Ms Anna Zhang to the Young Persons Reference Group.

At its 30 April 2019 meeting, Council:

  • Noted the resignation of Philip Liberatore, Jennifer Wong, Mark Chen, Prashant Ranjendram, Rosie Tu, Martin Li and Darren Zhang from the Monash Young Persons Reference Group and acknowledged their contributions to the City of Monash.
  • Endorsed the appointment of Rosita Chau, Cheryl Ou, Shriya Guypta, Rawa Khan, Evonne Lu, Neha Satishkumar, Devendra Singh, Siddhant Tandon, Laura Wang, Darren Chee, Miranpal Nagra, Maria Saribalas and Tim Ziguras to the Young Persons Reference Group.

At its 30 January 2018 meeting, Council:

  • Noted the resignation of Shlok Thakur, Sarah Lim, Sharon Zhang, Melissa Liberatore and Aanchal Arora as members from the Monash Young Persons Reference Group and acknowledged their contributions to the City of Monash.
  • Endorsed the appointment of Rosie Tu, Natalia Kelly-Gerreyn, Martin Li and Darren Zhang to the Monash Young Persons Reference Group.
