Media Response - School Parking Zones

Published on 26 April 2022

Council’s primary focus to parking enforcement around schools is to provide a safe environment for children in a highly patronised pedestrian area.

The ‘kiss and go’ zones are intended to be used by parents planning to stay with their vehicle, drop off their children and then move on.

‘Kiss and go’ zones should not be used if parents have a need to leave their vehicle and/or enter the school grounds, and other parking opportunities exist around schools to accommodate this, acknowledging that there is high demand for these longer-term spaces.

‘Kiss and go’ zones help to provide a high turnover of vehicles thus providing access to as many vehicles are possible within a short time period.
