Media Response dogs on Gardiners Reserve Synthetic Pitch

Questions and Responses

Have there been any reports of dogs on the synthetic pitch at Gardiners Reserve? If so, how many?

We have had two direct complaints to Council about dogs on the synthetic pitch.

Has there been any complaints from the community about the lack of access for dogs on the synthetic pitch? If so, how many?

We haven’t received direct complaints from the community about the lack of access for dogs on the synthetic pitch. It’s important to note that there are still two other turf soccer pitches at Gardiners Reserve that are off-lead areas either side of the synthetic pitch.

Anything else?

Dog poo simply doesn’t break down on synthetic turf the same way it does on grass. This poses a health and amenity concern for users of the pitch and it’s also harder to keep the surface clean and maintain the condition of the turf.
