Questions & Responses

Does the council know what's going on with Kingcon's development?

The site at 820-830 Ferntree Gully Rd has a planning permit which provides that construction should be completed by 22 September 2021, which can be extended by request. The site is currently fenced off and Kingcon signage removed.  We do not have any further details on the site or any contractual arrangements between the owner and the builder.

How many townhouses were being built there?

The planning permit allows for 52 apartments and 54 townhouses and construction has been substantially completed.

Have any residents made complaints?

During construction there were complaints from surrounding residents about noise, working outside of the permitted hours, residential on-street parking being used by worker vehicles and general mess from the site. Our planning team and community amenity team responded to these compliance matters.

What is the status of the Wheelers Hill gym site? Will it be redeveloped?

The planning permit for this site at 855-869 Ferntree Gully Road requires construction to start by 30 July 2021, although this permit can be extended by request. The permit allows for up to 65 town houses.

Construction does not appear to have started on this site yet, and we are unaware of when and if the development will commence.
