Outstanding Advocate of People with Disabilities

Criteria

This award recognises the achievement of an individual, organisation, group or business that has contributed to improving the lives of people with a disability.

The matters which will be considered by the judging panel include:

  • The degree to which the achievement has assisted people with disabilities to actively participate in their community
  • The degree to which the achievement has contributed to improving the accessibility of the built environment
  • The significance and/or impact of the achievement on the development of the disability sector
  • Is the initiative new or existing? Is it inclusive of people with a range of disabilities?
  • The degree to which the achievement has included people with a disability in the development and decision-making associated with the initiative
  • The level to which the initiative or achievement involved partnerships with other organisations or individuals
  • The degree to which the achievement has been maintained
  • The level to which the achievement has contributed to the employment of people with a disability
  • Nominees can be recognised for paid or voluntary work.
