Kindergarten Enrolments

To register your child in kindergarten via our online portal, you will need to create or log in to an account, and follow the prompts to submit your application.

Unsure if you have an account? Please contact the Kindergarten Support team on 9518 3555 or email kinderenrolments@monash.vic.gov.au

The online portal allows families to enrol and view their application details from home at any time. You can also update your details and change your kindergarten preference at any time.

When submitting your application, you will be asked to verify information for each child (provide documents).

Verifying your information

You will be asked to provide 4 documents to verify your information.

The documents you upload can either be scanned copies or photos of the required documents. Once the documents are verified, they will be deleted.

The 4 documents must include:

  • Proof of address (for example, a driver's licence, utility bill, rates notice)
  • Proof of date of birth (for example, a birth certificate, passport or immunisation certificate)
  • Immunisation status (for example, a current immunisation certificate showing immunisation status)
  • Any court orders relating to the child’s custody arrangements (if applicable)

It is your responsibility to ensure your details are correct at all times to allow us to process your child’s kindergarten application before the cut-off date of 30 June, in the year prior to commencing kindergarten. This will ensure your child will be included in the allocation process.

Temporary relocations

Ward Avenue Kindergarten

Ward Avenue Kindergarten is being redeveloped in 2024. Council will partner with the Victorian School Building Authority to build a state-of-the-art, double-unit kindergarten to accommodate the roll-out of 15 hours of 3-year-old kinder and, in the future, 30 hours of 4-year-old kinder by 2032.

During this redevelopment, families enrolled at Ward Avenue Kindergarten will be temporarily relocated to Oakleigh South Child and Family Hub, a new early years facility currently under construction at 1228 North Road in Oakleigh South. This hub will operate as the base for Ward Avenue Kindergarten in 2024.

Enrolment Process

Step 1.Step 1: Submit Kindergarten Application

Parents and guardians can submit their kindergarten application via the Parent Portal until 30 June of the year before commencement. This does not guarantee a place at a kinder but registers your interest and gives kindergartens an idea of numbers. You will still need to submit your group preferences.

Please read How to create a new account and lodge your application(PDF, 604KB)

Parent Portal

Step 2.Step 2: Submit Kindergarten Group Preferences

After submitting an application, parents and guardians will be sent an email and an SMS requesting group preferences to be submitted via the portal by 30 June. If you miss the cut-off, an offer will not be sent and your account will be deactivated.

If you put in an application after 1 July, it will processed after third-round offers have been finalised (usually mid-August).

If you submit multiple group updates on the same day, please phone the Kindergarten Support Officer on 9518 3555 to confirm the most up-to-date selection.

Step 3.Step 3: Respond to an Offer

First-round offers are emailed (followed by an SMS reminder) to parents/guardians around mid-July, and you have 7 days to respond to the offer, or it is withdrawn. First-round offers are only sent to people who live in Monash.

Second and third-round offers are emailed in the following weeks with the same 7-day response time. These offers are also open to people who do not live in Monash.

Late applications are processed and sent an offer if vacancies are still available after the closure of third-round offers.

Kindergartens are then notified of acceptances.

Step 4.Step 4: Enrolment confirmation

The kindergarten will contact you to finalise enrolment information specific to their centre and to discuss starting date/time and what to expect.

If you have any questions about the process, please call the Kindergarten Support Officer 9518 3555.
