Council sought community feedback on the proposal and received nine objections. 

The proposal was approved subject to more than 40 conditions.

About the proposal

Please note that this was a new application and separate to the previous application TPA/49990.

The applicant, 1 Allen St Development Pty Ltd, proposed a $40 million development which is detailed as follows:

  • Construction of a part 3, part 4 storey building comprising 84 retirement apartments.
  • A total of 5 x 1 bed; 62 x 2 bed & 17 x 3 bed apartments.
  • Maximum building height of 12.75 metres.
  • A total of 104 car parking spaces are proposed within the lower ground floor level including 103 car spaces provided within the basement car parking and 1 short term pick up/ drop off space at ground level within the porte-cochere.
  • The proposal provides a total of 102 car spaces for residents (excluding the pick up/ drop off space), which is one car space in excess of the statutory requirement; and 1 space for the food and drink premises (café) which seeks to reduce 2 car parking spaces.
  • Vehicle access will be via a new 5.5 metre wide vehicle crossover in Allen Street. Existing crossovers will be removed.
  • A total of 20 bicycle spaces.
