Active Winter is an exciting initiative and collaboration with local sporting clubs, building connections and creating opportunities for the Monash community to be more active across the winter months.

Fitness Camp

Work through a guided movement bodyweight outdoor gym circuit, enjoy the outdoors and increase physical activity at your pace.

PramFit 

 

A program for mums by a post-natal specialist. Take a guided informative walk with the baby in a pram, meet other mums and create connections while exercising and learning about the pelvic floor post-birth.

10.40am, Tuesdays

Walking Basketball

Walking Basketball is a low impact, social and fun way to improve the levels of physical activity for older and inactive Australians, including those recovering from injury. Walking Basketball is played with a size 5 basketball, on a modified hip height, or lowered ring. Five on five game play, with rest breaks where required.

Work through a body weight fitness circuit. This session caters for beginners and focuses on learning safe and functional movement patterns.

Walking Group

Light paced and light hearted, join a guided social walking group to meet new people and increase physical activity.

Sports Locker

Open the locker and get active 

Borrow sports equipment for FREE from the Clayton and Oakleigh libraries to use at near-by sports facilities!

Equipment available to borrow

  • Oakleigh Library: soccer balls, AFL (Australian Rules) balls and frisbees
  • Clayton Library: table tennis bats and balls, netballs and basketballs

Borrowing time: 4-hour limit

How to borrow: Simply leave a form of ID with the library branch, which you can collect back when the equipment is returned and sanitised with wipes provided. You'll also need to sign an agreement. Being a library member isn’t essential.

The Sports Locker program is available during library branch operating hours: Clayton LibraryOakleigh Library

This program provides an opportunity for local families to ‘Participate Their Way’ by removing the cost of club membership, registration fees, uniforms and equipment, and utilising the libraries' systems to hire out sports equipment within Clayton and Oakleigh local areas.

Indoor Carpet Bowls

Carpet bowls is a low impact sport that can improve coordination and skill development. Carpet bowls is an indoor social game which caters for most age groups. There will be a staff on site to help guide new players.

Football Focus Melbourne - Clayton

The Football Focus program offers opportunities for youngsters to develop their technical ball skills, build confidence and work together. Fun and inclusive, we at Football Focus know the social interaction involved in our program is just as important as any one ball skill. Children will learn how to interact and communicate in a social, stress-free environment, learning how to share, take turns, listen to instructions and work as a team. Ages 3 to 10 years.

Senshi Karate - Glen Waverley

 


Senshi Karate School has been part of the Glen Waverley community for close on a decade, providing classes for all ages and abilities in a safe and professional training environment. All classes will teach you or your children potentially life-saving self-defence skills, help increase flexibility and balance, improve strength, speed, and agility. 

When: 9am-11.45am on Saturdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 August

Jells parkrun

 


Jells parkrun is a free, fun, and friendly weekly 5 kilometre community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you!

parkrun is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee in Madeline’s at Jell’s - please come and join us!
