Thursday 20 October 2022

7.30pm - 8.30pm

Via Zoom

Gambling Harm Awareness Week encourages us to talk about harms associated with gambling, and the effects they can have on our communities.

Monash Council has a strong history of advocating to reduce harms caused by gambling and to support this important week, will partner with a number of councils to deliver an online education session, focused on gambling harm reduction.

Smartphones, online games and gambling ads on TV have changed the gambling landscape significantly. This workshop is an opportunity for parents, carers, young people, and interested community members to learn more, and to be aware of the harms associated with these forms of gambling.

The event will host leading experts and a panel discussion by lived experience speaker from ReSpin, Fred Rubinstein; lead researcher and advocate on gaming and harm prevention at Deakin University, Professor Samantha Thomas and Gamblers Help Counsellor, EACH, Melanie Marsh.
