Innovative approaches to supporting the wellbeing of young people

A core component of Victoria’s vision as the Education State is significant improvement in outcomes for children and young people of all ages and abilities. This significant improvement is focused on both excellence and equity in learner outcomes in the areas of achievement, engagement and wellbeing. To achieve these outcomes, there is a need to integrate the focal areas of academic outcomes, behavioural needs, and social and emotional health within a unified framework in schools and early childhood settings. Integrating these focal areas into a unified framework may improve:

  • the implementation of practices easier, more efficient, and more cost-effective
  • protection against the abandonment of evidence-based practices in one area (for example, in the area of behaviour support) due to multiple competing priorities within an education setting
  • wellbeing for educators and school leaders and prevent educators from viewing the implementation of programs and practices to improve academic achievement, behaviour and wellbeing as separate initiatives.

Join our panel of researchers from different disciplines within the School of Educational Psychology and Counselling as they describe ways to use high-impact educational methods and behaviour support practices in integrated, inclusive, and strengths-based ways to support the achievement, engagement and wellbeing of all children and young people.

This panel discussion aligns with Monash University’s Impact 2030 strategic priority in the area of ‘Thriving Communities’ to develop new innovations and solutions to ensure that all learners can access high quality education that meets their needs and supports their social inclusion and full participation.
