Overview

For 1-5 year olds. Designed to foster a love of reading and books. Most Storytime sessions will be held in the library.

 

Bilingual Storytime: English and French

Families with young children can discover some of the iconic buildings in France as well as hear the French language through our bilingual storytime.

Stories and songs in both English and French will be followed by a craft activity.

Clayton Library. No bookings required.

Trilingual Storytime

English, Chinese and Italian

Trilingual Storytime is a unique and memorable way of experiencing different languages and how stories are expressed in each. It’s also a valuable experience for young children to hear and share their family or community languages, and increase their sense of inclusivity

Bedtime Storytime

Storytime supports the development of children's literacy, social and group learning skills.

Bedtime Storytime welcomes all families, particularly those with work commitments during the day.

For children aged 1-5 years.

FREE. Bookings are only required for sessions held on Zoom.

 

Generally held in-person on Tuesdays at 7pm. Enquiries: 9518 3970. No bookings required.

Waverley Gardens Storytime

Children aged 0-5 and their families or carers can join these free sessions and enjoy stories, songs and rhymes.

The pop up library allows attendees to borrow from a small selection of children's books and other materials. Bring your library card, or join the library when you attend.

National Simultaneous Storytime

National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).

Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by Australians is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, homes and children’s facilities all over the country and the world!

This year NSS takes place on Wednesday 24 May. The NSS book is ‘The Speedy Sloth’ by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie.

Celebrate Matariki - the beginning of the new year in the New Zealand Māori lunar calendar.

Families with young children can enjoy stories and songs in English and Māori at our special bilingual storytime.

Our guest storyteller will share the Māori language and culture.

NAIDOC Week Storytime

Samantha Richards is a proud descendent of the Wurundjeri and Dja Dja Wurrung Tribes of the Melbourne and Bendigo regions. She is also the founder of Connecting Two Worlds, an organisation established to share traditional and modern Indigenous culture through interactive incursions.

Join Samantha for storytime during NAIDOC Week to explore and celebrate the stories and culture of Australia’s First Peoples.
