How many items can I borrow?

  • Loans: Maximum of 50 items on your library account at any one time (not including eLibrary items).
  • Reservations: Maximum of 50 reservations on your library account at any one time.

What can I borrow?

  • Books (including large print format, and in languages other than English).
  • Audiobooks (CD  format).
  • DVDs including blockbuster films, TV series and documentaries.
  • Magazines (print and digital).
  • Language kits.
  • Language test preparation materials (print and digital).
  • PowerMate portable power meters.
  • eBooks, eAudiobooks, eNewspapes and eMagazines from our eLibrary (up to 15 items in BorrowBox and Libby, and up to 10 items in uLibrary).

How long can I keep the item(s) for?

  • All physical items: (Except DVDs and magazines) can be loaned for up to 28 days.
  • DVDs and magazines: Can be loaned for up to 14 days.
  • eBooks & eAudiobooks: 21 days in BorrowBox, uLibrary and Libby.

Can I renew items?

  • You can renew most items three times, as long as there are no reservations.
  • Items are automatically renewed 2 days before their due date, however please check your account to confirm renewals.
  • You can renew items yourself. 
  • If items are overdue, you will not be able to renew items online.

How do I renew my loans?

  • Online: Login to your library account on the library catalogue page. You need your library card number and password.
  • In person: Visit your nearest library. Please bring your library card.
  • Phone: Call any of our branch libraries. Please have your library card number ready.
  • Reminder email: Click on the link in your reminder email.

How can I update my membership details?

  • In person: You can update your membership details by visiting your nearest branch and speaking with a staff member. If you are updating your address, we will require proof of address. 
  • Online: You can update your phone number, email address and password on our website by logging into your account.

How can I renew my library membership?

To ensure your contact details are up-to-date, we require you to renew your membership every three years. You will need visit your nearest branch and speak to a staff member to do this. 

How can I reset my password?

  • You can reset your password by clicking on Forgot Your Password.
  • You can also update your password by logging into your account in Personal Details.
  • You can visit your nearest branch with your library card and speak with a staff member.   

Where can I return my loans?

  • Any branch of Monash Public Library Service.
  • After hours returns can be made via the chutes at all branches. 

What if you don't have the item I want?

What if my loans become overdue?

  • Overdue items will never attract charges, however you may be unable to borrow until the items are returned.
  • Items will only become overdue if they can no longer be renewed.

How do I become a member?

You can either join online or visit your nearest branch of the library.
