Comic Con Cosplay Competition 2026

Competition outline: 

This competition is an opportunity for adults and children aged 3+ to cosplay down a red carpet and compete for prizes. 

Terms and Conditions: 

1. This competition opens on Saturday 11 April 2026 at 1.00pm and closes on Saturday 11 April 2026 at 2.00pm.

2. This competition is open to entrants living in Victoria, Australia, who are able to meet the terms and conditions of entry.

3. The terms and conditions of this competition are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia.

4. This competition is being run by Monash City Council, 293 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley VIC 3150.

5. Employees of Monash City Council and their immediate family members are ineligible for entry.

6. The age eligibility for entrants is 3 years of age and over (inclusive).

7. There are four categories for entry:

a. Category JUNIOR: 3-7 years
b. Category KIDS: 8-12 years
c. Category TEENS: 13-17 years
d. Category ADULT: 18+ year
e. Category GROUP: 2+ people of any age

8. Entry is free.

9. All adult entrants and parents of entrants aged under 18 years of age must register online or in-person at least 15 minutes prior to the event on Saturday 11 April 2026 at Wheelers Hill Library.

10. All entrants must be registered by the event start time (1:00pm, Saturday 11 April 2026).

11. All adult entrants and parents of entrants aged under 18 years of age must sign a photo-permission form as part of the registration process.

12. Entries consist of a person aged 3+ wearing a costume based on a character from comics, manga, film, video, games, TV show, cartoons, pop culture or any work of fiction, and parading their costume down a red carpet as part of the advertised event, and only during the advertised event time of Saturday 11 April 2026 from 1.00pm-2.00pm at Wheelers Hill Library. 

13. Entrants will be judged on three criteria:

a. Accuracy or originality – Their costume’s accuracy to the existing character, or their creativity in creating an original character inspired by comics or video games
b. Effort – The quality of construction and attention to detail in the costume (including any costume props)
c. Presentation – Their stage presence and how well they portrayed their character while on the red carpet

14. Costumes may be handmade or store-bought.

15. The characters cosplayed may be from, or inspired by, any comic, manga, film, video game, TV show, cartoons, pop culture character or other fictional character. 

16. All costumes must be age-appropriate and unlikely to cause offence or controversy at an all-ages, family-friendly event.

17. Only one entry per cosplayer is permitted. 

18. Entrants have one opportunity at a designated timeslot to cosplay for a maximum of 30 seconds. 

19. Once an entrants’ cosplay is complete, no additional chances to cosplay will be given. 

20. There will be one winner for each category of entry. The winners of the group entry will receive one prize to be shared amongst all group members.

21. All entrants must conduct themselves according to the conditions of entry to the library. Any entrant who is disrespectful or abusive to staff or other entrants may be disqualified from the competition. 

22. Entrants that do not meet one or more of the terms and conditions of entry will be disqualified. 

23. By submitting an entry (cosplay) into the Comic Con Cosplay Competition entrants give Monash Public Library Service permission to photograph and/or video their entry (cosplay), and/or post photos and/or videos of their entry (cosplay) to other online platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, and the Monash Public Library Service website. 

24. Judging will take place during the advertised event and winners will be announced at the end of the event (Saturday 11 April 2026, 1pm-2pm at Wheelers Hill Library). 

25. Judging will be undertaken by a panel of Monash Public Library Service staff or nominated persons. 

26. The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 

27. After the event has concluded, winners may also be announced on:

b. Library social media (Facebook and Instagram): @monashlibraries  

28. Children’s names will not be published.

29. No personal details of the winners will be published online. 

30. Prizes must be collected in person at the event.
