WordFest 2021
The annual literary event organised by the Monash Public Library Service aims to connect authors, emerging writers and readers in the Monash Community.
The month long program running from June through to July comprises a series of free author talks, competitions and low cost writing workshops and is a feature program in Monash’s event calendar.
In 2021 WordFest was held entirely online due to the Covid-19 restrictions and marked the 25th anniversary of the festival. It weaved together authors from a variety of backgrounds to tell the poignant experiences that shaped their lives, influenced their writing and enabled them to share their deepest truths. The theme for 2021 was "Transcend the ordinary".
Many of you made it to our online WordFest events and heard the stories and experiences of: Virginia Trioli, Amy Bodossian, Mark Smith, Alex Hammond, Heather Morris, Sally Rugg, Jacinta Parsons, Sofie Laguna, Tyson Yunkaporta, Kirsten Alexander, J.P. Pomare, Kelly Gardiner, Michelle Scott-Tucker, Mirranda Burton, Dr. Victoria Grieve-Williams, Sophie Cunningham, James Bradley and Melanie Cheng.
The jam packed program brought together passionate storytellers, writers and passionate readers and soon to be writers.
If you missed out on making it to a WordFest event, join us next year for yet another exciting WordFest program.
Thanks to all our participants, speakers and partners for a successful WordFest 2021.
