Do you feel confident in searching for items from our catalogue website? Or our library website?

Here are some tips and tricks to help you get the most from our collections.

Where is your catalogue and how can I search it?

Select the Search the Library Catalogue link at the top right of each page on the utility bar. This will take your to our Library Catalogue website.

Or 

Just enter your keywords into the the Library Catalogue search box on the home page and press the search button.

Your results will be displayed. If there are no results that means we don't have the item or you need to check your search terms.

Searching for specific formats or collections

From our catalogue home page search box use the dropdown arrows to select a specific format or collection.

Fiction, non-fiction, DVDs, magazines, junior items and some local history resources all have their own collections.

Select the Advanced Search option to define your searching further.

You can search by author, title, subject, language, collection and magazine issues, plus much, much more.

Local history resources are also available.

Try searching for Added Title (in title search) or the saved lists on the library catalogue for these items.

Results and Filtering

Once you have searched and received your list of results you can refine your search further.

On the left menu are the filtering options such as publication date, time period, language and many other options. Results numbers are shown beside these options. Select an option to get those results!

Is our collection missing something? Let us know!

If we don't have the item you are looking for then you could search further on our Interlibrary loan site or Trove: National Library of Australia website.

Or you can Request an item. We will take your suggestion(s) for consideration but due to budgetary restraints we may not be able to purchase all requested items.

  • eBook and eAudiobook suggestions are also considered.
  • Suggested purchases need to be recently published items of interest to our general population. 
  • There is no charge for Interlibrary Loans unless a fee is charged by the Library Service supplying the item(s).
  • Our library regularly contributes to the National Library Trove catalogue records.
