Education topics

Education sessions can be 30 to 60 minutes and can include quizzes, hands-on activities and educational resources for students and teachers. We offer the following education sessions to primary schools:

  • Wonderful WasteStudents will examine the impacts of waste and learn about what items go in which bin. We cover the importance of recycling and what happens to waste once it is collected.
  • Recycling Rules!: Students will dive into the recycling process and learn where materials come from and why recycling helps our environment. We take an in-depth look at how material streams are sorted and processed.
  • Closing the LoopStudents will explore the take-make-waste problem and impacts of landfill. We will discuss how to be more sustainable by following the 5R’s.
  • Waste Audit (allow 1-2 hours): Students will work together to examine bins from classrooms, the schoolyard and staffroom areas. Students will learn how to separate waste into appropriate streams, find potential problem items in the bins and learn how they can reduce and recycle waste at school.
