Citizenship

Citizenship ceremony at Monash University

Council conducts citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.

Please contact the Department of Home Affairs on 131 880 or visit their Australian citizenship website for information about becoming an Australian Citizen.

Council does not handle the application process of becoming an Australian Citizen. The Department of Home Affairs handles all aspects of applying to become a citizen and inviting applicants to attend a ceremony where they will make their Australian Citizenship Pledge.

The ceremonies will be held at the Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University (49 Scenic Blvd, Clayton 3800), Alexander Theatre, Monash University (48 Exhibition Walk, Clayton 3800) or Huntingtower Performing Arts Centre (77 Waimarie Dr, Mount Waverley 3149).

At the ceremonies, successful applicants are asked to pledge their allegiance to Australia and its laws.

  • photo identification

Please note: if you don't supply the required appropriate identification you are unable to become a citizen.

Appropriate forms of photo identification are:
