Trees and Nature Strips
Council trees are all trees located on land owned or managed by Monash Council. This includes all trees in parks and gardens, reserves, bushland, and on streets and nature strips. Council manages about 90,000 street trees and 300,000 trees in parks, gardens and bushland reserves. Green spaces provide natural cooling, reduce air pollution, improve soil health and water drainage, and create habitat for native wildlife.
Nature strips are areas of public land between the property boundary and the kerb, excluding public pavement.
Please note that Council does not maintain trees on private property. For tree removal or tree works within the Vegetation Protection Overlay (VPO), please visit: Vegetation Protection Overlay.
