All children have the right to run and play their way, that’s why we’re bringing our Sports Locker on the road to Monash parks, reserves, and recreation centres.
The Roaming Sports Locker aims at providing youths with the opportunity to get active, have a play and learn new skills and there's plenty of sports equipment to keep active with!
Kids and families can borrow sporting equipment at Caloola Reserve for their own free active play. One of our specialised Active Monash Trainers will also be running some games, activities, skills and drills also for those who want to join in.
Kids aged 5 - 13 can join these free sessions hosted across various location in the City of Monash.

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis and Glen Waverley Bowls Club are now offering social play, court hire, and membership options.

Hangtime Basketball Community
Hangtime is an all-inclusive local basketball community that play social 'pick up' basketball games in the Bayside and Southeast suburbs.
We bring basketballers together by organising and playing self-referred, social, full court games, that don't require the commitment to a team or full season and cater to all skill levels and abilities.
All games are fun, inclusive and purely social-focussed.

Walking Basketball
The Basketball Victoria initiative, Walking Basketball program is a low impact, social and fun way to improve the levels of physical activity for all ages, genders and abilities.
The program provides optimal health benefits to all who participate including those who might be intimidated by the pace and impact of a traditional basketball game but love the slower more social version of Walking Basketball.
Following the session, participants are invited to socialise in the Club Room with free coffee and morning tea provided by Waverley Basketball Association.

Active Abilities Small Group Training
A friendly class specifically designed for those with a disability to help individuals move and exercise in a safe and fun environment. Our circuit classes held in our low-sensory studio at Oakleigh Recreation Centre are to be enjoyed by people living with a disability aged 16+.
These classes offer numerous benefits with a focus on cardio, strength and balance training.

Dementia Friendly Group Class
A friendly class specifically designed for those with early-stage dementia to help individuals move and exercise in a safe and fun environment.
Led by experienced and qualified group exercise instructors, this class is engaging and fun. The class will work on improving functional strength, flexibility, and cognitive stimulation.
Exercising helps to prevent falls and maintains healthy mind, body and spirit. Other positive effects include improved mood, sleep, and quality of life.

Sports Locker
Open the locker and get active!
Borrow sports equipment for FREE from Oakleigh, Mugrave and Glen Waverley libraries to use at nearby sports facilities.
Equipment available to borrow
- Oakleigh Library: soccer balls, AFL (Australian Rules) balls and frisbees
- Mulgrave Library: soccer balls, basketballs, AFL (Australian Rules) balls and frisbees
- Glen Waverley Library: table tennis (bats and balls)
Borrowing time: 4-hour limit
How to borrow: Simply leave a form of ID with the library branch, that you can collect when the equipment is returned and sanitised with wipes (provided). You'll also need to sign an agreement. Being a library member isn’t essential.
The Sports Locker program is available during library branch operating hours: Oakleigh Library, Mulgrave Library and Glen Waverley Library.
This program provides an opportunity for local families to ‘Participate Their Way’ by removing the cost of club membership, registration fees, uniforms and equipment, and utilising the libraries' systems to hire out sports equipment within Oakleigh, Mulgrave and Glen Waverley local areas.
