Plaques and memorials provide recognition and can contribute to an understanding of significant events in the history of Monash or honour individuals who have had a significant role in the city.

The policy provides that all costs associated with the design, construction, installation and maintenance of plaques or memorials (including park benches) will be met by the person who has asked for the plaque or memorial.
