Carlson Reserve Mural Expression of Interest

Monash Council, in partnership with MAMAM, invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from artists to create a mural on a hit-up wall adjacent to the multi-sport courts at Carlson Reserve.

This project seeks to celebrate the rich biodiversity of Clayton's flora and fauna, enhancing the local environment, community space, and fostering a deeper connection between residents and nature.

Closing date for submissions is 5pm, Sunday 31 March 2024.

Artwork objectives

  • Showcase Clayton's diverse plant and animal life, highlighting the unique ecological tapestry of the region.
  • Engage the community and foster appreciation for local ecosystems.
  • Enhance the visual appeal of Carlson Reserve, contributing to the vibrant outdoor gallery in the City of Monash.

Project and submission details

Please read through the Carlson Reserve Mural EOI brief below for all the information regarding the project, including wall specifications, the project budget and timeline, selection criteria and other requirements.

Expression of interest information document(PDF, 500KB)

EOI submissions should include: 

  • Curriculum vitae: Outlining your history as an artist.
  • Portfolio: 10 digital images of previous artwork.
  • Artist statement: Outline your idea for the project (up to 500 words).
  • Insurance: Copy of current public liability insurance certificate.
  • Location: This project is for residents of Metropolitan and Greater Melbourne. 

Following the EOI process, the selected artist will develop two concept designs, which will be paid for and put towards community engagement.

The concepts will be displayed on the Monash Council engagement page, Shape Monash, for the community to vote on and provide feedback. Considering the community feedback, the chosen design will be updated and finalised for installation.
