Community Safety

Family picnic in the park

The Monash community has identified feeling and being safe as essential to health and wellbeing and enjoyment of community life.

Working in partnership with community organisations and emergency services, we deliver year-round community safety programs and initiatives.

Our programs:

  • Connect people with their communities and services
  • Empower people with important information that can keep them safe
  • Inspire community activity and engagement.

What is community safety?

Safety is an important determinant of health and wellbeing. When people feel safe within their communities, they are more likely to connect with friends, engage in community life and social activities. Neighbourhoods which are perceived as safe, inspire community activity and participation, physical activity and community connectedness.

Community Safety Month

Community Safety Month is held across Monash every October. The event brings together a whole range of fun, interesting and practical safety events, forums and community get-togethers for the Monash community to participate in. Events will be uploaded to this page later in the year.

We all have a role to play in keeping our community safe. Together, we can create a safer and more resilient community.
