Monash Council is partnering with the Victorian Government to construct a new facility for Ward Avenue Kindergarten that will include two 33-place kindergarten rooms to meet local need.

Upon project completion, the new single-storey facility will offer:

Two 33-place kindergarten rooms
Outdoor learning environment
Staff working spaces and renovated amenities.

The Victorian Government is contributing $1.64 million towards this $5 million project, and Council will contribute $3.36 million.

Programs at Ward Avenue Kindergarten will temporarily close at the end of Term 4, 2023, with demolition of the existing building planned for early 2024, and construction of the new build scheduled to occur throughout the rest of the year.

We aim to have the building ready for service delivery in Term 1, 2025.

During works, kindergarten programs will relocate to the new Oakleigh South Child and Family Hub at the corner of North and Guest Roads in Oakleigh South.

Hours of construction will be in line with the Victorian Government’s Environmental Protection Agency noise control guidelines of 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm on Saturday. Quiet works may occur between 7am to 9am on Saturdays (when required).

February 2024 update

Works on the $5M Ward Avenue Kindergarten facility have begun, with demolition of the existing on-site building starting in February 2024, and construction to follow.

The brand-new facility will be complete and ready for service delivery for term 1 2025.

Once completed, Ward Avenue Kindergarten will boast two new 33-place kindergarten rooms, enriching outdoor learning environments, staff working spaces and amenities.
