Strategies and plans

The LGBTIQA+ Action Plan ensures that Council’s strong commitment to LGBTIQA+ inclusion is built on a framework with clear actions that are used to better understand and respond to the experiences and priorities of LGBTIQA+ communities in Monash.

The Plan underwent extensive community feedback and consultation in 2022 and was endorsed by Council at its 29 November 2022 meeting.

Watch a video of the Plan's journey:

Workplace LGBTIQA+ inclusion is also supported by the Gender Equality Act 2020 which includes tracking the experiences of staff and equality progress in a workplace audit. Strategies are included in the Gender Equality Action Plan and our progress to achieve Rainbow Tick accreditation.

LGBTIQA+ working group

The LGBTIQA+ Working Group at Monash Council provides an internal facing voice for LGBTIQA+ staff and their allies and ensures our organisation understands and responds to the needs of LGBTIQA+ staff and the LGBTIQA+ communities in Monash.

The working group promotes inclusive practices across all departments and services, working towards achieving Rainbow Tick accreditation and creating lasting cultural and organisational change.
